FAQs

Do I need any previous dog training experience and qualifications to be applicable?

No, the course is all-inclusive, and should appeal to trainers/behaviourists regardless of their ability and/or experience.

Will there be an exam/test?

No there won’t.

Can my partner come and watch?

Unfortunately not. Space will be limited, and partners attending could double the number of people.

Can I bring my own dogs? If I can take my own dogs, Is there somewhere secure for me to leave my dogs or will I need to bring a crate/leave them in the car for any duration of time?

Yes you can bring your own dogs. They will obviously need to be dogs who can cope with being left, as you won't be able to have them with you while you are training/attending lectures etc. If you are staying in our accommodation, you will be able to have your dog stay in your room, and you will be able to lock the door so that your dog will be secure.

Will drinks be provided?

Teas and coffees will be provided throughout the day.

Will there be handouts to take away or do I need to write my own notes?

Yes, there will be handouts, though you can of course take your own notes.

Do I need to bring anything?

You will need something to write on, and something to write with. If you are already training people and dogs, and you prefer to bring your own equipment, you may do so.

Will there be homework?

No there will not.

Will there be vegan / vegetarian food options?

Yes there will be if required, so vegetarians and vegans should notify us on their application.

I want to attend and learn the theory but don't want to instruct. Is that ok?

Yes, that would be fine. You don't have to want to actually train others.

Do I have to bring a dog?

No, you will be working with real pet owners and their dogs, so you won't need to bring one.

Do I get a certificate for completing the course?

Attendees successfully completing the course will receive a diploma from the Canine Instructor Academy, and be able to use the title and logo on their websites and literature.

What type of dogs will there be for training?

Most of the dogs you will be working with will be dogs with basic training issues, though there may also be dogs with behavioural issues that you may be working with.

Will we be working with aggressive dogs?

Possibly.

Is the course accredited?

No.

Is there access for the disabled?

Yes there is, though when working in the field, due to the thousands of rabbits living on the site, when we are working outside on the fields, it's pretty bumpy.

What age limit is there to join?

All applicants and attendees must be over 18 years of age.

I have another question, who do I ask?
